Thanks, Paul. I guess 'Rage and Mail just ... do things differently (for lack of an understanding of how it all works). I used Mail to send the message since it pasted in Cyrillic without any tinkering necessary. The report I got back said it was "totally readable," though there appeared to a dropped character at the end of a couple of words.
