Title: New Identities
Thanks a lot Allen. I was concerned this approach might overload my system with a single large email and addressbook that would cause other problems. But this does sound like a good way to go. Thanks.

If it were me,  I would not even bother with separate identities, since
switching identities is a manual operation, and you would have to switch in
order to check mail in the alternate account. What I would do is simply set
up separate _accounts_ for the old and new email addresses, and then set up
a rule for the old address (any recipient contains [EMAIL PROTECTED])
that moves all such mail to a special folder. Moving it into a separate
folder will keep the old mail separate from the new.

This way, whenever you do "Send & Receive All" the old account will get
checked. You'll see mail coming in to the old address as soon as it arrives,
without having to remember to switch identities and check the old account.
Furthermore, you won't have to change anything with your Palm sync.

As for contact info, you could easily separate those by assigning a category
of "Old Job" to all contacts strictly related to the old job. Then, when the
old job finally disappears entirely, you could select by that category and
delete them all (assuming that's what you want to do).

On or near 9/10/02 1:33 PM, Marc Lambert at [EMAIL PROTECTED] observed:
