The reason I suggested disabling the Entourage conduit was to rule it out as
the cause of the hotsync problems. Since you are still having problems when
the Entourage conduit is taken out of the equation, it seems to be a more
general problem with the Palm HotSync software. Two obvious things to look
into are disk corruption and broken permissions. Personally I'd reboot in
single-user mode and run fsck until it came up clean and then run 10.2's Fix
Permissions in Disk Utility. Next I'd dump all Palm Desktop software as well
as data files and prefs and reinstall the appropriate version for your
handheld (note that Palm has two downloads for PD4, one with Notes and one
without for handhelds that are running Palm OS 4 or previous, respectively.
Don't try and install the one with notes if your handheld is running Palm OS
3.x as I've found that it doesn't work properly).

Lastly, I'd make sure you can get the Palm Desktop software to run properly
before you attempt the Entourage conduit again.
