I just set my Clie up about a week ago, and I've been synching daily since without any difficulty. I have about 1500 contacts. However, I have defined a category, "Sync", that I applied (in Entourage) to all the contacts I want to sync, since that is only about a quarter of the whole list; many are merely email contacts for work that I don't need on the PDA.
In the Entourage conduit, I set it to synch only the category "Sync". That keeps my Clie filled with the contacts I want. The only drawback to this approach is that I have to remember to assign the Sync category to new contacts when I enter them, if I want them on the PDA. An alternate approach would be to set up a "NoSync" category in Entourage, and assign that to all the contacts one does not want to sync. Then new contacts would sync by default, unless the NoSync category is applied to them.
