I send out an email that has apostrophes in words. When someone replies, those have become commas. Any way to fix this? Thanks.
- Don’t use HTML. OR
- Set the Format/Character Set of the message (and your next reply) to Western European (Windows). It means your correspondent is using a different character set. OR
- Go to Tools/Autocorrect/AutoFormat, and turn off "Replace straight quotes with smart quotes"
I recommend 3. It allows you to use HTML, but uses straight quotes " instead of curly. Straight quotes are regular ASCII characters that will not get mangled by Windows or other recipients when replying. Everything will come back correctly. And no one is going to be put out by seeing straight quotes.
