I administer an Exchange server as well, and I've never found that the "Live
Sync" option functioned very well, either with Entourage 2001 or v.X. I'm
not sure whether that's a function of Exchange or Entourage.
What I've done very successfully is to use, yes, schedules. Here's my
account setup:
In the Options tab, I only have 2 items checked:
"Send commands to server simultaneously"
"Check for unread messages in subscribed folders"
Under Advanced, I have:
Store sent messages in IMAP folder "Sent Items"
Store draft messsages in IMAP folder "Drafts"
Deleted Items: Move to IMAP deleted items folder, empty on quit items older
than four days.
To retrieve mail, I have a schedule that checks my POP3 and IMAP accounts
every ten minutes. That's generally seemed adequate, and if I get impatient,
I highlight my IMAP inbox and press Command-L to update the list.
