That’s because you have an LCD screen.  A 15” CRT built into an iMac DV (like mine) is at 800x600 resolution by default, while a 15” LCD screen has essentially the same viewable area of a 17” CRT screen, for which 1024x768 is intended.  I can imagine that 800x600 must look enormous on an LCD screen of 15”!

Note that your screen resolution needs to be at least 1024x768 for this to work in reality.  I tried it using my normal 800x600 resolution (it’s a 15” monitor), and it was impossible to make Entourage display the entire calendar.  It only worked when I increased the resolution to 1024x768.
