Office Notifications ring while computer is sleeping

Title: Office Notifications ring while computer is sleeping

Hello

I'm using Entourage with Office X (with service updates). When I see clients, I close my laptop to put it to sleep so as to not have distractions. However, Office Notifications continue to ring even while computer is asleep.  This is distracting.  Any suggestions?  Thanks.
