OS X also automatically includes all fonts in the System 9 (Classic) Fonts folder, if you have one. Many System 9 fonts won't work under OS X, however. If you have such a Fonts folder, try temporarily renaming it and see if that helps. If it does, you can either do without the System 9 fonts, or else go through them trying to locate the bad fonts. I would think Suitcase must have some utility function to help you do that (but I do not use Suitcase).
Specifically, try to eliminate all duplicate fonts.
