After having problems with Camino *and* IE as well as this problem, I decided to archive and reinstall OS X. I did all the upgrades *except* for the recent Security update (which is the only thing I can think of that I installed recently). Everything is back to normal. I have made the security update inactive for now. Has anyone else had weird things happen after installing the security update? -- David W.
