It removes lots of hidden stuff, including ~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/ plus other things, but does NOT touch the Microsoft User Data folder(s) nor any data within. So that's what you should do now. Use Remove Office _and_ also Remove Test Drive (if that works at this point): the latter probably also removes the record of the test ID code. Then reinstall CD and update to Office 10.1.2. All data will be preserved.
