* she can't double-click on the attachments in the message window
* she can select the attachment in the message window and click on the "Open" button; the correct helper application (Microsoft Word, say) opens, but cannot read the file (Word complains with an error dialog, the text of which I unfortunately did not write down but can get)
* she can save the attachment to disk, but then opening it in a helper application results in failure (like the direct to Word example above).
I have done a typical rebuild of the Erage database, and that has not fixed the problem.
I have double-checked her attachment *sending* options, and they seem to be correct. She is set to use AppleDouble and I have turned on the option to automatically attach filename extensions.
If I open up the same messages in Apple Mail (she is using a university IMAP account) then she can correctly deal with attachments. Images appear in-line, and other kinds of files, such as Word documents, open properly in the helper apps. This is true for the exact same messages that fail in Erage.
She is using Jaguar on a PowerBook G4 Titanium.
I am going to try to confirm that this same issue exists using Erage from another Mac OS X user account on the same computer. If so, it seems like it is specific to her Erage settings, but this all seems extremely odd.
Has anyone else seen something similar -- and perhaps fixed it? Thanks!
