I definitely appreciate your reply - I'm pretty much "dead in the water" until
I can get this fixed.  :-(

Yes, I have only one instance of the Database Daemon in the Login Items list.

Since Entourage crashes right at launch time, I have no way to do this!

Actually, here's a bit more definition. When I examine the console log, I
notice that the Database Daemon crashes as I launch Entourage, then Entourage
crashes about half a minute later.

As Entourage comes up, it makes a neat little "swooshing sound" (I presume
this is standard behavior for EvX). It's *immediately* after making this sound
that Entourage crashes.

Other things I've considered (but not yet tried:

1. Re-apply the OS X 10.2.8 Combo Updater.
2. Re-apply the MS Office 10.1.5 (?) update.
3. Re-install MS Office V.x from scratch, followed by all the updates.
4. Restore the Database and Database Cache files (again) from my backup, which
DID allow Entourage to launch. Then do *something* differently - suggestions
appreciated!
