Background color in email message

Title: Background color in email message

Hi

(Using Ent X, OS 10.3.2)

I send emails in html format without a lot of fancy formatting. I'm considering using background color. I'm wondering:

1. If the receiver's computer cannot read color, what will happen?

2. If it is an okay thing to do, how could I make that default for all outgoing messages.
