HiIf the machine is set to read white on black or is set to display in grayscale rather than color, the background color will just be a slightly different tint of gray or black I'd imagine.
(Using Ent X, OS 10.3.2)
I send emails in html format without a lot of fancy formatting. I'm considering using background color. I'm wondering:
1. If the receiver's computer cannot read color, what will happen?
If you mean that the computer has a color monitor but has an e-mail program incapable of reading background color, the message will probably appear as plain text, because most HTML e-mail programs read background color. I suppose that if an e-mail program did support HTML mail but not background color, it would appear as you formatted it with a white background. But that would be a rare situation.
You can't set a default background color for mail. However, you could use Paul Berkowitz's "Message Template" script to open new mail from a template you've set with whatever background color.
2. If it is an okay thing to do, how could I make that default for all outgoing messages.

You're welcome.
Thanks for your reply.
