Steve, you identified the problem. I looked at my columns, and none of them was selected as the sort column. For years, "name" was selected. I'm not sure how it might have gotten deselected. As soon as I reselected "name" as sort, Ent ran faster again when I typed in a name into "Name contains" box, or when I switched between Address Book window and other windows. Up to speed again. Yes, Diane, you are correct.  Make sure you have a visible column
selected as the sort column (just click on one of them).  If that's not
it, then we'll have to go back to the drawing board.
