First, run /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility/First Aid/Repair Disk
Permissions. That should fix it.

If not, you could check permissions on

~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/ folder, and on several files within
it

where ~/ is your OS X user folder in /Users.

When you do a Get Info on the folder (select and right-click or
control-click and choose Get Info, or else select and press command-I), it
should show you (your use name) as having Read & Write permissions, and you
as the owner if you click "Details". If it doesn't say "You can <Read &
Write>", change it. (If you're not owner, and that popup is dimmed, try to
unlock the owner and change owner to yourself, then change your permissions
popup to Read & Write. Or report back here.) The permissions for Group and
Others will be Read Only - that's OK.

Check also the Entourage Preferences and Entourage Settings (10) files
within. They should be the same. Also the Carbon Registration Database file
- same.

You'll also find a 'com.microsoft.Entourage.plist' file in the outer
~/Library/Preferences/ folder. Check that you can Read & Write it too. (The
Group and Other permissions will be <No access> here. That's OK.) Same if
you also find a 'com.microsoft.Entourage.plist' file _inside_ the Microsoft
folder.

You probably won't have to do any of this after Repair Disk Permissions. But
I think I may have read once that Repair Permissions does not act on files
within your own user folder, so I've mentioned them just in case you need
them. Basically, all the files within the Microsoft folder that aren't
'com.microsoft...' files should have the same permissions (you can Read &
Write, Others and Group can Read Only) and the 'com.microsoft...' files
should all have the same (you can Read & Write, Others and Group have No
Access). It may be one of the other files in the Microsoft folder, or one of
the other 'com.microsoft...' files which has the problem , so check them all
if the obvious files are all OK.
