I tested this out yesterday and it does work. I suggest creating a new
Identity and try to import there. If it works, then your database is
suspect.

If you do a Get Info on a photo in your iPhoto Library, does it show
PlayerPro as the application set to open the picture? Do you have PlayerPro
on your computer.

I show Preview as the application to open the .jpg files. I also do not have
PlayerPro.

You can do a Change All with Get Info if your .jpg files are set
incorrectly.
