Most common reason for Word crashing is a corrupt "Normal" template.

Determine which copy of Normal is most current, and rename it to "Old
Normal". Delete all other copies of the Normal template (do a Find on your
entire hard drive, because Word will find old copies of Normal in the most
obscure places).

Relaunch Word; it will create a new Normal for you, with default values.

Use the "Organizer", which you can get to via Format->Styles, button at
lower left, if you can't find it otherwise. With this tool, you can copy
bits and pieces of information from your "Old Normal" template: styles,
macros, toolbars, and such.

I have no idea, even, what "Fire" is; can't help there.
