Got a message from my ISP today (bellsouth) saying that they are now going
to start requiring authentication on the outgoing SMTP server. So I go
ahead and modify my POP account settings to check off "SMTP server requires
authentication", provide my account name and password, and try to send a
message. Entourage (2004) comes back to me with "Authentification failed
because Entourage does not support any of the available authentification
methods - Error -17897".

After this weekend all outgoing messages through bellsouth will require
authentification. I can't believe that as new a program as Entourage really
doesn't support what Bellsouth is doing and that instead I must be doing
something wrong, but I don't know what!
