I'm not sure changes were made. Entourage writes better than it reads.
You're correct that almost all info is there. It did photos already in X, I
believe. It still doesn't do categories or projects - which are not internet
standards and would never transfer to other programs anyway. If you're
seeing "categories: Something" that's probably from the Notes (where I
suspect that one of my scripts put it.) Notes export of course.

All custom fields export, properly numbered and are imported back in to the
correct fields. Same with custom dates, birthday, anniversary. Astrology
sign is the only thing omitted (who cares) - I'm sure it's not an internet
standard and wouldn't be understood elsewhere. Many of the more obscure
fields are prefaced "X-" which probably means "proprietary, non-standard",
and other apps may skip these if they don't have the same fields.

OK, here's the problem: custom phones. If I remember correctly, phone types
other than the basic standard types (home, work, work fax, and a few others)
did not used to have descriptive types, They were just "tel:(555) 234-5678
without a "type=value;", I think. I might be wrong. Now every single phone
has its type listed, and it looks right in the vCard:

tel;type=home:(555) 682-3186
tel;type=home:(555) 682-5678
tel;type=work:(555) 893-7299 x1111
tel;type=work:(555) 893-7299 x1112
tel;type=work;type=fax:(555) 893-7194
tel;type=cell:(555) 234-5678
tel;type=assistant:(805) 234-5678
tel;type=custom:(555) 682-8888
tel;type=custom:(805) 123-4567

But Entourage is still butchering the types when it imports its own vCards ,
It shoves all the custom phones , as well as Assistant, into any vacant
spots among the standard types, or at least fills the empty spots
willy-nilly in its own order. . It moved my two custom phones (called
"Other" and "Custom 3") and "Assistant" into Home Fax , Pager and Main
respectively. It shouldn't be doing that with its own named fields.

PLEASE always state which version of Entourage you are using - **2004**, X
or 2001. It's often impossible to answer your questions otherwise.
