I do not have this problem with my PowerBook running 10.3.5 and Entourage
2004.

Can you manually put the G5 to sleep from the Apple Menu?
Is Energy Saver set up properly?
How long does the computer have to be inactive before it is put to sleep?
How often does Entourage checks its accounts?

My suspicion is that Entourage is checking its accounts at a faster rate
than the Energy Saver is set for. i.e. The G5 could be set to go to sleep
after one hour of inactivity, whereas Entourage could be checking its
account every half hour. The G5 would never see an hour of inactivity and
thus never go to sleep. Entourage doesn't check its accounts in offline mode
and thus the G5 would time out and go to sleep when Entourage is in offline
mode.

BTW, Entourage doesn't check its mail when the computer is asleep. But it
will connect and download mail when it is woken.
