Jan, did you ever try creating a new identity from scratch to test?

Yes, I did, and it didn’t help – I still got duplicate messages. I’ve been checking recently, and even when my “comcast” on-line mailbox (I don’t know if that’s the right name, but the one that looks like an envelope with a green line under it that’s in the folder list) shows only the messages I think should be there, if I go to the web mail service for Comcast and look in the inbox there, a bunch of messages that should have been deleted (the ones I’m getting over and over) are still there. The only way I’ve been able to stop getting duplicates is to delete them using the webmail interface, but that’s really a pest. The strange thing is that it doesn’t happen all the time – I can go for a day or two with appropriate behavior and then all at once there will be a large number of “new” messages in my inbox that are really old messages, and if I just delete them, they’ll reappear in an  hour or so (not the next time I check mail though).

This sounds more like a server error than an Entourage error. Are the messages similar?

There have been several reports of duplicates, but there is no fix that has worked for all sufferers.
