There is probably a place for sharing Perl scripts to run in NWE or BBEdit;
have you found one?

About Word, though; the Office 2004 version has a totally new AppleScript
dictionary that replicates everything one used to be forced to do in Visual
Basic. New PDF manual all about it, too. Big drawback is that it _looks_ a
lot like Visual Basic! It's a whole new ball game. But before too long,
there will probably be some very good AppleScripts for Microsoft Word.

Like you, I feel as though I am drowning in word processors and text
editors. Should I invest my time in learning Perl, or in mastering the
convoluted syntax of Word's new scripting dictionary? On the one hand, Perl
is useful in many contexts, while learning Word's stuff will benefit only
within Word. However, LOTS of people use Word...
