Turning off the MLM rules allowed either or Entourage custom rules and/or the JMF to work perfectly. I presume that MLM also fouled up my attempts to use SpamSieve.
Now, what is wrong with the MLM? This sounds like a bug in Entourage 2004 (sp1). Is this issue known to Microsoft?
The MLM is a great feature. I can recreate some of the functionality by making too many rules, but this is a PIA.
Also, how do you burst digests if you can’t use MLM?

Have you tried disabling the mailing list manager? I've seen cases
where having it active prevents other rules from being applied to
messages (even ones that wouldn't seem to be matched by the MLM rules).
