Title: Re: Error -18493 (mailbox over size limit) error when sending large attachments
You don’t say which version of Exchange, but I believe that there is an outstanding problem with the quota calculations. I have seen as much as 30% difference between what Outlook (or any client) says is in the account and what is actually there as reflected in the warning messages you might receive. For example, I used to get a “mailbox full” message stating I was over my 100MB quota. Using the “Folder Size” function in Outlook yielded about 70M of data. This was apparently associated with garbage that was never collected in the message store and duplication caused by using DAV and IMAP at the same time.

The IT admin’s solution was to raise the quota to 150M.

I have several clients connected to an Exchange server via DAV. When some of these folks try to send messages with large attachments (8-10MB) they are notified that their message cannot be sent, with the following error:

“A unknown error # 18493 occurred.  Your mailbox has exceeded the size limit.  Account name Davidson via DAV."

Our mailbox quota is 100MB, but none of these people are anywhere close to that limit. I’ve searched the archives without success...any suggestions for a resolution? All clients are running OS X 10.3.6 with the full set of updates, and Entourage 2004 with all updates.

Thanks!
