Why can't she compose them in Entourage? I think that TextEdit is writing
the text as Unicode characters in the clipboard and Entourage 2004 doesn't
seem to handle this very well.

If she wants to continue using TextEdit, she could try to use "Paste Special
-> Text Only" to see if that fixes the problem...
