 Thank you very much Barry - you are exactly correct!!!!!!!

One of the three culprits below is the problem - I took all three of them
out of the /Library/ScriptingAdditions folder -  and  the AppleScript worked
perfectly! Yipee!

 I'm not sure exactly which one is the culprit - you have any idea if one of
them seems suspect?
