Edit Data Source is only dimmed when there's no data source source chosen
yet or it's an inappropriate type of editing. If you first choose an
existing tab-delimited text file or an Excel document, for example, to be
the data source for a Catalog or other type of Merge, then the Edit Data
Source button becomes available. I've just done it. If you choose the Office
Address Book, however, you can't edit that from the DMM. Similarly if you
chose an existing Labels document (one you created for a previous Label
merge) for a new Labels merge, the Edit Labels button should be available
undimmed.

PLEASE always state which version of Microsoft Office you are using -
**2004**, X or 2001. It's often impossible to answer your questions
otherwise.
