Paul,
You're absolutely right. And I actually did buy your scripts about a month ago. We corresponded briefly about it.
My "SOLVED" post was related to MY problem ... and I didn't have any categories. Regarding te carriage returns, I don't quite know what that is and what they do.
I used Outlook for email. I had an address book and a lot of emails sorted in folders. I didn't use Outlook to run my life, I used it to send and receive emails. So the mails and my address book was what I wanted to move. And that's what I finally succeded in getting over.
In the painful process, I tried to go via Eudora, I tried Little Machines Outlook2Mac and i tried your script collection.
Your script collection was what got me the longest way, but somewhere along the way I got lost and it all seemed too complicated. So many questions to answer, and I didn't even know what they meant. So I started over and installed Satimage again and tried to find my way around the many scripts ... and ended up with 92 empty entries in my Entourage address book. A couple of times.
Then I gave up. Lived with 2 computers for a while. And then said to muyself "No dammit, this is not right". And then I installed Eudora and tried that way. And I tried to import to Outlook Express and to move from Outlook Express to Eudora and finally Mozilla and the rest is as described in my last email.
Now Entourage works for me, but I don't know how long. This process has taught me about some good non-Microsoft programs. I can use Mail and iCal and Address Book on the Mac and that trio pretty much can do what Entourage can (or so it seems to me). And Eudora seems like a good solution too. I like the concept that not everything is stored in one single file.
But we'll see
So yes, you are right ... there are ways to do that move ... I found my way and that worked for me. I asked the list for help wednesay .. I thought it appropriate to report back, that my problem had been solved.
:)

I did it ...
On the PC: a) Download nad install the Mozilla Suite or Thunderbird (stand-alone email app.)
b) Startup Mozilla and Import from Outlook.
c) In the Application Data/Mozilla/Mail folder you will have a series of files: In and In.toc, Drafts and Drafts.toc etc ....
d) Copy the containing folder to the Mac (network, CD, zip it and mail it ...
)
e) Open the folder on the Mac. Delete all the .toc files and rename the other files like this: In -> In.mbox, Out -> Out.mbox etc)
f) Entourage can imbport these .mbox files
Now, all you need is your address book.
1) On the PC, choose Export from the file menu.
2) Choose Export to a file
3) Choose Comma-delimited (WIN)
4) Export at copy the resulting .csv file to the Mac
5) From Entourage, import the .csv file
6) Align the different fields and click import.
:)
You'll notice that you've lost all your contact categories (if you had any). Also the contact notes have lost their carriage returns. And why do you say "all you need is you address book"? Some people also need their calendar, tasks and notes from Outlook.
There are ways to get all those missing items.

PLEASE always state which version of Microsoft Office you are using - **2004**, X or 2001. It's often impossible to answer your questions otherwise.
