If it was Jan's Entourage conduit that reset, would Missing Sync help? It's
my understanding you'd still be using the Entourage conduit. I can't use
Missing Sync because I have a Palm OS 3 device. :(

I'm not saying that the Entourage conduit is at fault, because that's
jumping to conclusions. However, without any information on what else might
have been overwritten besides the calendar/contacts/etc. that Entourage
synchronizes with, it's reasonable to think right now that the problem is at
least limited to the Entourage conduit.

I've not had a case (either myself, or that I'm aware of on my campus) where
a conduit like this has spontaneously reset. I'm not aware of any Missing
Sync users, but that doesn't mean we don't have any. Anyway, this would
definitely be weird behavior for HotSync, in my experience.

Also, back to the loss of categories ... previous Palm OS versions -- and
this could hold true for Palm OS 5 on the Treo -- had a limit of 15
categories. Therefore, if you have more than 15 categories on your desktop
(in Entourage), they won't all sync to the smartphone. Basically, for this
and other reasons, the data on a Treo is not as "rich" as what you'd find in
Entourage, so there's some compromises made during HotSync.
