Hi
Beth,
Thank
you for your answer, but still I think that the information in the Read.me-file
is misleading, especially if it is stated:
"To verify the version number, open any
Office 2004 program. For example, open Excel, and
then on the Excel menu, click About Excel."
One cannot judge on the version of Office by means of opening one of Office's applications, exactly what you state. I hoped that one of the Microsoft-people would read this message and either change the text in the Read.me-file or do something in the information of each application, e.g. About Word would give "Version 11.1 (040910), Office version 11.1.1 (<some date>). Do you agree? If so, how can we pass this on to Microsoft engineers? :)

The 11.1.1 updater did not make changes to all the Office applications. That’s why some of the application version numbers read 11.1.1 and others read 11.1 or 11.1.0. You’re fine.

Hi,
In the Read.me file belonging to MS Office 2004 for Mac 11.1.1 Update is stated under the system requirements that:
Before you install, make sure that Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac Service Pack 1 (11.1.0) is installed on your computer. To verify the version number, open any Office 2004 program. For example, open Excel, and then on the Excel menu, click About Excel.
I'm not sure about what is installed at my Mac, because I didn't open Excel and clicked at About Excel (where I could have read "Version 11.1.1 [050201]"), but I opened Word and clicked at About Word, where I read "Version 11.1 [040910]", which mislead me, because I thought: "this smells like 11.1.0", so how are affairs???
It puzzled me even more when I did the same in Entourage, which stated "Version 11.1.0 [040913]".
PowerPoint shows "version 11.1.1 [050204]...
Where can I find unambiguous information about the real version of my Office suit?
Thanks,
