I?m using Entourage 2004 11.1.0 (040913), on Tiger 10.4.1. For years, I have
run seamlessly as the only Mac (until about 6 months ago), using Entourage.
I've had no real glitches.

Recently, when I FORWARD e-mails containing Word documents to Windows users,
the Word documents cannot be opened, and appear to be corrupted The Windows
user gets some sort of a message asking if they want to repair the file, but
that apparently doesn?t work. This happens when I forward with both the IMAP
and POP accounts in my company's e-mail system. I have also tried sending them
from my .Mac account and my AOL account, using Entourage, with the same result.

I first noticed this on Monday when I sent a file with two Word documents
attached. The Windows recipient was able to open one of them, but the other
appeared to be corrupted. Since then, every Word file I have forwarded seems
to be corrupt. I have tried this a number of times with these various
accounts, always with the same result.

If I forward the same e-mail to another Mac user on our LAN, who is also using
Entourage, she is able to open the file without a problem. The really bizarre
part is that if she then forwards the e-mail to a Windows user, he is able to
open it as well.

If I create a new Word document, and attach it to a NEW e-mail, there doesn?t
seem to be a problem. This appears only to affect e-mails which I receive and
then FORWARD.

I have also forwarded a couple of PowerPoint files which could not be read.
One of these was last night, using Entourage, from home, from my .Mac account
to another user on my company's e-mail system. The recipient and I both got
messages from the company firewall saying the attachment had been scrubbed
because it was unable to scan it. Is this a related problem?

I have gone through all of the Database Utility verifications and rebuilds but
that doesn?t seem to help. I have deselected compression. I have experimented
with encoding, trying both MIME/Base 64, and AppleDouble. I have restarted,
done an FSCK -y -f, zapped PRAM, repaired permissions, run daily, weekly and
monthly UNIX maintenance. All to no avail.

Is this a problem with my company network, or e-mail server? Some screwy
setting or corrupted Entourage preferences? Is there some preference file I
can trash? Advice? Thanks in advance.
