I used Paul's scripts when I created a new identity a year or so back....
but with lots of email (database file is 1GB) and nested folder structure it
was going to take a long long time...

In the end I just took the main stuff and left the other identity as an
archive I could switch back to when I needed to.

One of the things the scripts did find was corrupt messages ... they
appeared blank or with bad dates when imported and meant the export-import
would stop at that message so messages after/before that point were not
transferred.... so you had to be careful about the number of messages in a
folder in old identity and the new...

I guess these corrupt messages are probably some of the reason I was having
problems in the first place and maybe importing the old email just brings
problems into the new identity? ... next time I might just create a new
identity and not import any old messages... in fact my boss does this every
year with his email ... not a bad idea perhaps

good luck...
