Slow Sending

Title: Slow Sending

Greetings!

I have a user that is using Entourage 2004, on Mac OS X.4, on a Mac G4 500 MHz.

The user is experiencing very long periods of aprox 3 to 6 minutes, when sending email messages, even those with a small amount of text only. He also experiences lags when he is typing. Specifically, text that he is typing does not appear on the screen, in the body of the Email, for any where from a few seconds to many seconds, and then suddenly appears in the body that he is typing.

I have rebuilt his database several times. I have just reformatted his hard drive, clean installed his OS and ran all the updates, and then clean installed Office 2004 and ran all the updates to that. Then again, rebuilt his database.

His data base has grown to almost 6 GB. I don’t know if perhaps this has something to do with it? I don’t think it should, however, he is using that large database on a 500MHz G4.

He says all his other apps are running fine.

The problem of slowness in Entourage persists.  Any ideas?
