The server doesn't give a hoot about what type of machine connects as long as it uses a standard protocol.  Your Mac is fine, uses standard protocols (POP and SMTP) and will require less support than the PC's that the company is paying for licenses on!  He should be happy that you will be up and running in no time!

Hi.

I started on a new job this morning. And hey, everybody's working on a windows-machine. The network runs on BSD(?) Linux, and mail runs on pop3 and smtp. Servers are pop3.lan.xxx.nl and smtp.lan.xxx.nl. The systemadmin doesn't know ### about Macs and says a Mac won't work. Other arguments are 'all licenses must be to the company' and 'people should not have a computer of their own'.

What I'd like to know is: Can I hook up E'rage 2004 for this system?

Thanks! Paul.

Microsoft Windows: A thirty-two bit extension and graphical shell to a sixteen-bit patch to an eight-bit operating system originally coded for a four-bit microprocessor which was written by a two-bit company that can't stand one bit of competition.
