I am trying to remember from the past what has happened to others when their
email accounts are POP and they leave the messages on the server. I think
what can happen is that the messages are redownloaded, giving duplicates.

Can anyone verify this?

36,762 messages stored on server via POP is a lot of messages, and very big
inboxes for each account. You must have some messages stored locally and not
on the server.
