I think it would be bad mojo to hide the folder from view.
Many legitimate reasons to access the MUD folder exist.
This is why I would prefer ~/ instead of ~/Library,
and why I also feel that Mail.app's use of ~/Library/Mail Downloads
isn't the best choice...
