Neither Duration nor All-day Event can be set for Tasks - these are settings for calendar Events (appointments). They are normal settings for an Event in the calendar: an event is either 1 or 2 or 3 hours long, or 15 or 30 or 90 minutes or several days, etc. on the Calendar the event will then be shown to be occupying that amount of time, whether you're in Month, Week or Day view. If you check the All-day Event box then it is displayed as a "banner" - encircled by an oval (colored if you also assign it a category): in Week and Day view that appears at the top of the day in question as a header. So the question is: how is it that you have confused a Calendar Event window with a Task window? Where are you opening it from? If you go in the Tasks List area (command-5), you should just see your list of Tasks, and cmd-N will open a New Task window that does not have any of these options. If you are in the Calendar area (cmd-3) displaying the Calendar, cmd-N opens a New Event window that does have those options because they relate to a new Event, not a new Task. This is true even if you choose to display the Tasks Pane showing just today's tasks. (That is controllable in the Calendar menu - Tasks Pane can be selected or de-selected to display or not.) If you like to keep the Tasks Pane open, or not, and want to create a new Task from the Calendar (or ANY) area without going to Tasks List (cmd-5) first, you cannot do so via cmd-N shortcut. You can do it via File menu --> New --> Task. That way you will get a New Task window with only the appropriate settings for a Task. If you are getting a new Event window from the Tasks List, or some other way, something would be very wrong. -- Paul Berkowitz MVP MacOffice Entourage FAQ Page: <http://www.entourage.mvps.org/faq/index.html> AppleScripts for Entourage: <http://macscripter.net/scriptbuilders/> PLEASE always state which version of Microsoft Office you are using - **2004**, X or 2001.
