If you're worried about HTML messages "calling home" then not displaying the
Preview Pane is not a "solution". Opening the message up into its own window
and then allowing "complex HTML" with "downloading pictures" (this really
means allowing <src=image> URI links) will be every bit as bad as Preview
Pane. Preview Pane is completely irrelevant to this issue, and should not
even be part of the discussion. Incidentally, that "download pictures" link
has nothing to do with displaying regular graphics files (jpg. gif, tif,
png, etc.) which will display just fine in inline HTML at any time, and also
in plain text if the separate View pref is enabled. They are harmless and
not part of any problem to do with complex HTML or calling home.

Right - what does it have to do with Entourage?

PLEASE always state which version of Microsoft Office you are using - 2004,
X or 2001. It's often impossible to answer your questions otherwise.
