Allan offers a good idea, but I would suggest two supplemental steps, both of which add to the overall effort).
First, consider deleting the related MS Office preference files; they can be rebuilt as applications require. See "HELP" pages on this list for details on where they lie (lurk?). This is easy. Second, run the applicable Office updates. What you drag over is likely to be dated. This can involve more pain, but I would not want to see the applications revert to earlier, likely initial, generations within whatever edition (2001, X, etc.) is your thing.
