Would taking the accounts offline help at all? So ... you'd have to run this in each user's context ...
tell application "Microsoft Entourage" to set working offline to true It at least seems that if Entourage is running, taking it offline would prevent Schedules which modify the data for remote accounts from having much, if any, effect, on a backup. It doesn't fix anything about Database Daemon being active or launched by Word, granted.
