This is my first post on the list after lurking for awhile and also checking out the newsgroups.

I’m a long-time Mac user who switched to Entourage from Claris Emailer when I finally moved from OS 9 18 months ago.  Knowing that a lot of the team who  did CE also did Entourage made it my choice.  Lately, Apple’s Mail is looking better and better.  I run Tiger 10.4.7 on a PowerBook 1.67GHz—the next-to-last one.  I have 1GB Ram and an 80Gb HD.

Since before the last update to 10.4.6, and the one to 11.2.5 for Entourage, and before I upgraded to 1Gb from 512mb, I’ve had a number of freezes unexpectedly—the program doesn’t respond to mouse clicks, and when I cmd-tab to get to another program and back in, Entourage will not show for awhile.  This continues to this day.

I’ve only just now been able to establish a common pattern.  I open the program and then hit cmd-K to get and send new messages.  New messages will show up in the Inbox, but you cannot open the files.  Click and click, but to no avail.  Eventually (15-20 seconds maybe, but at this point it seems an eternity) the program will “come to” and often remembers all the previous clicks in a great flurry.  Until then, if you move to another program, Entourage disappears--although not from the Cmd-Tab “icon parade”.

I’ve seen a few other posts on the newsgroups, but no one has had a good answer, or anything close that I can find.  I’ve repaired permissions, force quit a number of times.

Are others experiencing this?  Suggestions or ideas?
