I have not been able to isolate the cause either -- sometimes it freezes when starting to download, sometimes simply when typing a msg, sometimes when opening a new message window, etc. -- there is no rhyme or reason to it that I can determine (I have had the database integrity checked several times and all is well but I have done a couple of rebuilds anyway, to no avail).
