He's transferring the contacts from the Mac Mini to the iBook. Jack...export your contacts from E2004 to a tab-delimited file and import that file into EvX on your wife's iBook. You'll likely have duplicate contacts which you'll need to pare down. I *think* I remember one of our illustrious scripters having written a script to removed (merge?) duplicate contacts, but a cursory search turned up nothing. If your wife were running E2004 on Tiger you could turn on Address Book sync and then resolve the duplicates there.
