Immediate family has tower and three laptops and three licensed copies of
Office (X), two full licenses, one student). Extended family, son had
fourth (an iBook, said laptop's motherboard recently croaked, just after the
end of the school year, but we have its hard drive in a separate drive
housing).

PowerBooks A and B are now 3+ years old and out of warranty, but both are
working well, so far. Laptop C jut over year old, but needed non-warranty
repairs and was purchased to provide laptop continuity while B was being
repaired. When C was initiated, copies of all applications and data were
moved over from B to it by dealer "as a disk image". C is now ready to
resume premier position of immediate family's computers.

C is fastest and has largest hard drive. Though A and B were bought at same
time, A is slower than B (800 MHz versus 1 GHz) and lacks superdrive and has
somewhat smaller hard drive.

Now that C is again fully functional, we want to move all data from B to C.
This I can do by moving the user folder and, possibly, parts of MS Office
that are elsewhere for current versions of the main identity, for example.
Seek advice of this, to confirm above or get pointers.

When B was purchased, the tower had the other licensed version of
Entourage/Office. When C was initiated, initiated with disk image of B so
that brought all identities, applications, serialization, etc. C worked
like a charm, until it needed repairs.

What we want to do is revive C with B's content, then put A's content
including licensed second copy of Office/Entourage onto B and finally, put
son's captured data and its third (student) copy of Office/Entourage onto A.

Note that I have a 250 G hard drive that is large enough (barely) to make
disk images of all three computers or take the relevant portions of same
which would go faster as there would be less data transfer both to and from.

Laptops A, B, and C are all current in terms of 10.4 updates. We still
linger in Office X, but with all its updates, too. I am hoping this can be
done with out reinstalling all applications, running updates, etc.

Thanks to all this Sunday for advice that may be forthcoming.
