Herein a tale of passion, panic, and regret, starring Entourage, Outlook,
and Exchange as an ill-starred romantic triangle and myself as the
Sorcerer's Apprentice.

I have been testing SharePoint 2007 at work, getting ready for a March
launch. I wanted to test some email-sending features. Even though
SharePoint 2007 is supposed to be more friendly to "other" platforms and
browsers, I was working in IE on Windows. So SharePoint tried to use
Outlook to send the emails. I haven't had my Exchange account set up in
Outlook, but I thought "Hey, it's all sever-based Exchange mail anyway, I'll
just tell it not to receive mail!" [The squeamish may want to close their
eyes at this point.]

So I set up the account in Outlook to point to my Exchange account, and went
looking for a way to tell it not to receive mail. While I was looking, the
"receive" operation began, and Outlook tried to sync to my Exchange account.
For some reason I haven't yet discovered, it was DOWNLOADING the mails to my
Windows machine. When I looked over at my Mac, where Entourage was (gulp!)
open, I saw mails being deleted from Entourage as they were downloaded to
Outlook! Even more unfortunately, the most recent emails were being deleted
first.

Given that I was supposed to leave for my birthday party (yes, it was my
_birthday_, too!) in just a few minutes, I panicked. To stop the
hemorrhage, I removed the Exchange email account from the profile.

Now I have 1874 emails in my Personal Folders in Outlook, reaching back from
01/25/07 to 10/04/06. Mails from before that time or after that time are in
my "Inbox" in Exchange on the server and my Entourage.

After all that, my question: What's the best way to get the 1874 from the
Personal Folders merged back into the Exchange/Entourage Inbox? Failing
that, what's the best way to get them into a folder in "On My Computer"?

Thanks for reading this far, and for any advice.
