General preferences --> Address Book ...there are several choices for
linking.

Not much, I'm afraid. On my machine I'm seeing around 15-16% when I switch
windows. I only have the last option checked on the preference mentioned
above.

G4 Dual 1.42 GHZ
Memory 2GB

I don't see a problem with this speed. Is this what you consider slow? I
consider it almost instaneous.
