For me, it's a matter of features. Adjustable schedules for checking mail (some accounts 1x/hr, some accounts every 5 minutes), the ability to interpret and understand .ics files, the ability to be able to accept meeting invitations/calendar items from Outlook users, and relatively intuitive controls over switching from HTML back to Plain Text when replying to people who use HTML.
