Did you run Verify on the database before rebuilding. The auto verify
function is not as robust and has been known to give a false report.

Try trashing the preference file com.microsoft.OfficeNotifications.plist in
your User's --> Library Preferences.

Other things that can cause warnings to rebuild:

1. Bad RAM.
2. Being low on disk space. To check your disk space, use the Activity
Monitor. Click on Disk Usage in the bottom menu bar and select the volume
where you have Office installed. You can also use Disk Utility to see
detailed information about a disk or volume. To learn more, open Disk
Utility in the /Applications/Utilities folder and refer to Disk Utility
Help.

If you still have the old database files, I would revert. Just rename the
Identity. Use a custom view to gather your recent mail from your new
crashing Identity and drag the custom view icon to the desktop. This will
create an MBOX file that you can drag into Entourage.

Just to be safe until you are sure you have a Œgood¹ database is create a
backup often. Set to leave mail on the server for xx days. Bcc yourself on
sent mail to cover.

FWIW, someone mentioned the other day that after they exported the data and
erased it from their database, they were able to import it and the database
stopped giving them the rebuild error. This would be exporting as an
Entourage archive.
